HA6 Task 1 - Reference Research

Task 1 – Reference Research

Character 02 – Daisy Isidore
Equipment 02 -
Hand-held weapon and carrier, communication device and scientific toolkit.


In the HA5 Character Design Pack, I chose to use the character "Daisy Isidore", as I found the setting very interesting as well as the equipment she uses. I liked the theme of a space - futuristic environment as I could elaborate and be more creative with the ideas I came up with. The equipment that I created was rather unique but it kept the theme of 1970's sci-fi, as I focused on using techniques that people in the 1970's predicted how the future would look using things such as shapes and dials for inspiration. 



This is what I have created Daisy's handheld weapon to look like. It looks very sci-fi, fictional and alien like. I gained most of my ideas for the weapon I have created from the "wonder weapons" used with in the Call of Duty: Zombies, as the shapes and overall design of them made me instantly think of space and I also think that they looked cool and powerful. In this drawing, I drawn this in different positions to give an image of how it may look within the game and how it could possibly look like in a 3D perspective as the images that I have provided could possibly be made into a 3D model. I think that I did a pretty good job on creating the weapon as I think a gave it a really unique and effective style that people will like and enjoy using/ looking at. It look visually appealing and I think that it has a really cool futuristic and sci-fi effect. The carrier for the weapon on the top right is rather simplistic and not too futuristic, which is something that I could improve on a tonne to match the theme but I think that it would be quite okay as how I have created the carrier to act as a belt like object allows Daisy to quickly draw it out and use it whenever in danger.



This is a communication device I have created for my game as I think that it is a simplistic design that would be effect, convenient and handy which could come in useful for game-play as you will practically be able to communicate when ever as it acts like a watch and if you need to talk, the concept is that you just lift up your wrist which makes it so the game-play won't be slowed down and it can keep up with a fast pace.  I have also used hings such as shapes and dials to give the device a more of a sci-fi type of look which I think gives it a nice effect and would work really well with my game as it would fit in nicely with the theme.


I have also created my scientific tool kit which was quite difficult to design as I couldn't come up with any great ideas to give off a big sci-fi like vibe. I tried to use some inspiration from what people from the 1970's viewed the future like and I think that I could have elaborated on my idea and made it look a tonne better than it has but I tried really hard to make it look futuristic so it would fit the theme and also suit the character of Daisy.

This is a laser type of gun that is used in star wars. As you can see, it seems quite similar to a gun in this generation but with particular distorted features to make it look futuristic and space like. I think that this could be another possibility for my main character to have as a weapon because it suits the theme and it's not too complicated.

Futuristic weapons - Call of Duty zombies

In Call of Duty zombies, there are multiple weapons that look very strange and unrealistic. These are referred to as "Wonder Weapons" which are fictional and powerful weapons, which makes me think of the future and space related themes because of how they look with all the strange and peculiar shapes used and the sounds they actually make when used. There are a huge range of them and they are all very creative and imaginative which can help me get some inspiration and ideas for a weapon that I want to create for Daisy.

As you can see, all of these weapons look very strange but creative at the same time as unique shapes are used which gives the player a futuristic/ space like feel.

Logan's run









This gun looks very unique and quite fictional but it looks pretty cool and simple, which could be an aspect I could use within my weapon for the game. I love the way the gun looks and the overall design of it, as it gives of both vibes of modern and futuristic which is something that looks quite inspirational and it would work great as an idea.












This is a spaceship/ station type of figure. As you can see, they are filled with plenty of detail. They stick to the metal type of robotic theme using things such as satellites and straight lines to make it look more complex and interesting. I personally think that the overall image of this looks very unique and cool as it shows how huge and technical it is.
